Nail Products

As nails are a part of our appearance, they are impossible to hide. The type of nail products we use on them, as well as the time and dedication we spend, usually do not remain unnoticed.

In terms of regular nail salon products, the following items are the most widely used. This list will help you choose just the right ones for home use:

Polish Remover: Frequent use of abrasive substances like polish removers that are not formulated correctly is usually the main cause of nail fragility, breakage and thinning. So, apart from making sure about the nail product quality, it may be helpful to go for those which contain active nutrients, such as vitamin F and regenerating acids.

Usually, the inclusion of these types of substances provide the necessary oil content to keep the proper lipid level in nails tissues, solving polish and protecting the natural nail equilibrium. Acetone-free nail polish removers normally have these benefits.

Nail Hardener: Professional nail care products with triple action will harden, protect, and regenerate nails. They can do that because of the regenerative active principles, vitamins and minerals that are usually included in their formulas.

Apart from preventing the nail from possible breaks and thinning, these nail products help polish adherence, creating a more protective layer. Some enriched formulas contain proteins, vitamins F, and UV filters which give the nail a better protection from external factors such as cold, water, detergents, etc.

But what if your nails are genetically weak and take to much time to grow and regenerate? In those cases, acrylic nails can give a stunning look, in spite of what nature has decided.

Acrylic Nail Products

Acrylic nail products are quite resistant to chemicals, such as polish removers and chlorine. Usually, they last from 15 to 20 days, depending of the growing of the original nail. The faster they grow, the more frequent re-filling is needed.

Acrylic Gel Nail Products

Although the application of acrylic gel nails requires more time, the way they should be taken care of is the same as with the regular acrylic ones. The only difference is density provided you use good quality gel nail products. When the procedure is performed by a professional, the final result is very natural nails, although there are some details that are worth to keep in mind when the procedure takes place in a salon.

As many damaging chemicals are part of artificial fingernails and nail care products application, for example ethyl methacrylate (EMA), it is important to control the exposure to them before coming sensitised. Swelling, stinging, and reddening of eyes, nose, and other mucous membranes, are the most common side effects in clients, though some more serious ones – allergies, contact dermatitis, etc. are common among nail technicians.

The problem seems to be the extensive use of these nail products, which usually invade the air. So it is important you choose a work table located in a well ventilated area. Serious technicians take good care of their professional nail products, as well as their personal hygiene and the disinfecting of the instruments.

In addition, smoking in the salon should not be allowed, not only to avoid the aspiration of the smoke mixed with the nail products, but also because they are extremely flammable.
