Acrylic nail art and designs has become a must for many women.

According to nail technicians and other beauty professionals, women like perfect manicured fingernails and toenails – tidily filed and beautifully decorated with long-lasting nail polish to suit their style and highlight their personality. But, above all, they want to keep practicality to be able to perform their work in a comfortable manner.

For one reason or another – genetics, repeated exposure to chemicals or nail biting, etc.- it is difficult to grow long natural nails and keep them in good conditions. For those whose nails were not very much favored by nature and still want to look perfect, there is a variety of artificial nails to choose from. Needless to say that in the case of nail biting, there are many men who have artificial nails or acrylic nail tips extensions applied as a way to getting rid of the habit too.

Acrylic Nail Designs – New Trends

Nail technicians nowadays are artists in their own trade, as they perform beautiful paintings on every nail with the use of different acrylic nail design techniques and also apply acrylic nail tip extensions.

The traditional way consists of hand made designs of their own creations, or defined by the client. They are always looking to create original designs and try not to repeat the same art on different clients. In some cases, they only decorate the little finger in both hands.

Some other techniques involve the use of specific acrylic nail supplies and equipment, such as airbrushes and patterns to facilitate the job. Although they are performed with the same nail polish as regular nails, varnishes are mixed with specific thinners to make them easy to apply. It is advisable to invest a little in good quality acrylic nail supplies for best results.

Gel vs. Acrylic Nails

Although the popular belief is that they are very different, they both contain acrylic in their raw material. The basic difference is that acrylic nails are stronger and consist of a powder faze and a liquid faze that start curing (drying) as soon as they get mixed thanks to the body temperature, and gel nails can be worked on until they are placed under a UV light. Although they cure faster than acrylic nails, they tend to look more natural.

Removing acrylic nails and gel nails is also different. Acrylic nails are usually removed after soaking them in acetone but gels, in general terms, need to be filled off.
